OSI Food Solutions, which has been in the Spanish chicken market for some time now, has added another mile in its chicken products supply.
This latest expansion comes when OSI announced early this year that the company is now capable of producing 24, 000 tons of chicken products.
The high-level production line in Toledo has doubled the production from 12, 000 tons a year ago.
Interestingly, the new expansion not only works for chicken but also beef and pork production.
According to the press release by OSI Food Solutions, the company is now able to produce an aggregate of 45, 000 tons.
In order to carter for this new expansion, the company also announced 20 new job posts. These latest posts will be supplementing OSI’s 140 employees.
Using the new job posts, the company seeks to employ highly-skilled personnel who will be responsible for ensuring quality work in the production work.
There was also need to expand their factory buildings. More than 22, 000 sq ft housing facilities have so far been acquired. This building will have a product development kitchen that is aimed at solving consumer needs.
There will also be ample space for packaging, shipping and receiving, supply storage area, refrigerated rooms, and employees’ lounge.
According to David McDonald, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this latest expansion has come at a time the company and consumers needed it most.
McDonald is happy that now OSI will increase productivity. “We are happy as a company. The new high-skilled recruits will start work immediately, and this will ensure that our clients will soon get a wide range of products thanks to our new team,” the COO said.
OSI’s commitment to increase its production, sustainability and employ more people has yielded fruit. In 2016, the Chamber of Commerce awarded the company for its commitment to curbing unemployment.
This year, the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) gave OSI some amount of money to finalize its expansion project.
