Roseann Bennett is the co-founder of the Center For Assessment and Treatment which is based in New Jersey. This center provides mental health counseling regardless of a client’s ability to pay. Ms. Bennett is a licensed family and marriage therapist who has provided her expertise to her clients for over 10 years.
Before starting the Center For Assessment and Treatment, Roseann Bennett worked as a community mental health provider. She noted that patients often had to wait for extensive periods of time in order to access the mental health treatment that they needed. Often, this was due to the fact that they were of limited economic means.
Roseann Bennett and her husband founded the Center For Assessment and Treatment by taking things one step at a time. They didn’t worry that much about the appearance of the clinic when they first started out. In fact, they used furniture that they had in their own home to help furnish the waiting area.
Roseann Bennett observed what other clinics in the area were doing, and then she assessed how her clinic could best meet the needs of the community. She didn’t what to repeat the mistakes of others. She decided that her clinic needed to be open six days a week, and the clinic needed to be open later in the evening so as to provide more opportunities for people to access the help that was needed. Building the Center For Assessment and Treatment up to what it is today was no easy task for Ms. Bennett. It has required long hours and much hard work. Bennett, who doesn’t turn clients away because they don’t have the ability to pay, tries to find new and innovative methods to help her clients along with tried-and-true methods. While working with children, she first became interested in Canine-Assisted Therapy.
Through this process, Ms. Bennett has learned that in order to put in the hard effort in any endeavor, a person has to have deep love for what they are trying to do.
